Are you getting the most out of your kitchen counter? If you don’t have seating at your counter, then the answer is decidedly “no.” Your kitchen is the most important room of your house, the beating heart of your home where friends and family gather. When was the last time you went to a party and people weren’t gathered in the kitchen? There’s something naturally warm and inviting to a kitchen, and there’s nothing better you can add than a good set of counter stools.
If you have the space to add seating to your kitchen, it’s time to head to Chair Fair for some counter stools! Here are some tips to help you choose new kitchen seating.
Always measure first.
When buying any furniture, it’s essential to measure your space before you purchase anything. You don’t want to find a set of stools that you love and then realize that they’re too big for your kitchen and have to settle for something you’re not crazy about. Think about how many stools you would like to have at your counter compared to how much space you have to put them. For example, if you want to add four stools but space it tight, you may have to forgo arms or wide seats.
Counter or bar stools?
We sometimes use the terms interchangeably, but there is a difference between counter stools and bar stools. The main difference between them is the height. In general, bar stools are taller than counter stools. Some kitchens do have bar counters, so it’s important to measure the height of your counter as well as the length.
Be smart in your space.
Whenever you add seating to a room that didn’t have it before, you have to be aware of the space you have. If there is a table or a transition space into another room behind your counter, you don’t want your stools to take up too much space. Swivel stools are great for tight spaces because you don’t have to push your stool out to leave your seat.
